If you’re dealing with old microblading that has faded into an unflattering reddish or pinkish hue, you’re not alone. Many clients come to us looking for solutions after their once-crisp brows have changed colour or lost their shape. Fortunately, advancements in permanent makeup now offer effective ways to correct and revive outdated microblading. One of the most reliable and elegant solutions is the Powder Brow technique.

Why Does Microblading Turn Red?

Old microblading often turns red or pink over time due to the natural breakdown of iron oxide based pigments. Sun exposure, certain anti-aging ingredients in skin care, and some facials and peels can speed up this fading. Individual skin chemistry also plays a role in how the pigment shifts.

What Are Powder Brows?

Powder brows, also known as ombré brows, use a digital machine to create a soft, shaded effect that mimics brow makeup—making them ideal for covering old, discoloured microblading. Unlike microblading’s hair-like strokes, this technique offers long-lasting coverage and works especially well for mature, sensitive, or oily skin. Powder brows effectively neutralize unwanted red or orange tones, restoring faded brows to a more natural, polished look.

What to Expect During the Process

Step 1: Consultation

We start with a free virtual consultation. You’ll send clear, makeup-free photos of your current brows so we can assess the condition of your skin and pigment. Sometimes if the colour is too saturated, we may recommend doing a few sessions of laser tattoo removal first.

Step 2: Mapping and Design

Before tattooing, we shape your brows using facial measurements and mapping tools. We design a brow that complements your natural features while respecting any previous shape that can’t be entirely removed.

Step 3: Numbing

A topical anesthetic is applied to keep you comfortable during the procedure.

Step 4: Colour Correction Layer

If your brows are significantly red or pink, we first go in with a correcting pigment to neutralize those tones. This layer is essential for even results in the final stage.

Step 5: Shading the Powder Brows

Once the red is neutralized, we apply the powder brow pigment over top using a layering technique to achieve a soft, powdery finish.

Step 6: Healing and Aftercare

Healing typically takes 7–10 days, with full results visible after 6-8 weeks. A touch-up appointment is likely needed to perfect the results.

How Long Do Corrective Powder Brows Last?

Corrective powder brows typically last 2–3 years, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and how well you care for them. Because your brows are layered over older work, the longevity may vary slightly compared to virgin skin.

Brow Correction Is a Process—But Worth It

Correcting old red microblading isn’t an instant fix, but with the right technique, it’s absolutely achievable. The powder brow method offers a gentle, versatile, and long-lasting solution that can give your brows the fresh start they deserve.

Most importantly, correcting your brows means reclaiming your confidence—no more worrying about covering up red pigment or hiding behind brow pencils.

If you’re ready to fix your brows for good, we invite you to schedule a free virtual consultation. Let’s chat about your concerns, assess your current brows, and create a custom plan just for you.
